I have been Principal here in Ballinteer Community School since December 2010. I am proud of the work we do here in BCS. We have a wonderful, dedicated staff and our students are fine young people. The atmosphere in the school is positive, and our students work hard for their respective exams but they also have a good sense of fun along with well-developed moral values.

Ballinteer Community School is a mixed post-primary school and has been serving the community for over 40 years when it opened its doors to its first group of boys and girls in 1974. The school campus was redeveloped and a new school building was officially re-opened in October 2008 with facilities we are hugely proud of. We are situated in south Dublin at the foot of the Dublin mountains and Marley Park on our doorstep.

Our school is beside major transport routes stretching from Ballinteer to Dublin Airport and also Tallaght. As a result, our catchment area is vast with students coming from all local primary schools and beyond. We work in partnership with our Board of Management, parents and the wider community in order to provide an holistic education to the ever changing needs of students in our care. We are very proud to say that we provide a high quality inclusive education in a supportive atmosphere which respects diversity. Our students are recognised for all their unique talents and gifts and we always have a strong emphasis on raising academic expectations, making sure all our students are future-ready for life after BCS. To do this, students are challenged to work hard in order to achieve their full potential over six years in a wide variety of programmes and initiatives that the school offers.

I am delighted to welcome you to the Ballinteer Community School Website and I hope by exploring our website you will get an insight into the ethos and atmosphere of the school along with the achievements of our students and teachers in both curricular and extra-curricular activities.
