LGBT Week

20-November-20
LGBT Week

Thrilled to let you all know we’ve currently raised slightly over €450 from the non uniform day on Wednesday.

This week we celebrated Stand Up week, as part of BelongTo's national LGBTQI+ Awareness and Antibullying campaign. Posters were displayed to highlight our inclusive and diverse environment in BCS. On Monday, students were challenged to a LGBTQI+ information quiz, with winners in each class. On Tuesday, students learned about what it means to be an LGBTQI+ Ally, and a rainbow collage was created with the names of our students who identify as allies. On Wednesday, we held a rainbow non-uniform day and are on track to raise €500 for BelongTo. On Thursday, TY students partook in a disco of songs by LGBTQI+ artists or allies. Finally, on Friday, TY students decorated the school grounds with positive chalk messages so that all students left for the weekend feeling positive and included.
By taking part in these activities, students showed their support for the LGBTQI+ community. Rather than our LGBTQI+ students feeling they have to "come out," our students and staff who are allies "came in" to show that they are supportive and welcoming of all members of the LGBTQI+ community.
